When an inspection may be useful

  • The property has older drain or sewer piping.
  • There is a history of backups, roots or sewer repair.
  • Large trees sit near the likely sewer route.
  • A remodel or addition may have changed the piping layout.
  • The buyer wants more information before planning future work.

What the camera may document

  • Where access and visibility allow, a camera can show pipe material, joints, offsets, roots, buildup, standing water and visible damaged sections. A locator may help identify the route or depth of an observed area. Heavy buildup, standing water or a complete blockage can limit what is visible.

Ask for a clear explanation of the findings

  • Confirm how much of the line was inspected, what was directly observed, where concerns were located and whether cleaning or another evaluation is needed. A camera inspection is one source of information and should be interpreted alongside the property history and physical conditions.
